What It Is

Controlled injury, on purpose

A peel is a chemical solution applied to the skin to exfoliate its top layers. That controlled injury triggers new collagen and brings up fresher skin underneath, which is why peels work on fine lines, acne scars, sun damage, pigmentation and rough texture.

Strength is everything. A glow or hydration peel is a light lunchtime treatment. A yellow or Cosmelan peel is a serious pigmentation intervention that will have you peeling visibly for days and needs planning around your calendar. Using the strong one when the light one would do is how people end up with more pigmentation than they started with.

Indian skin pigments readily in response to inflammation, so depth, frequency and what you do afterwards matter more here than in the before-and-after photos you see online. Every peel at the clinic is chosen after looking at your skin, and we often start lighter than you expect.

The Menu

The peels we use

  • Glow PeelThe lightest of the set. Brightens dull skin and evens out tone with no visible peeling. A good first peel.
  • Hydration PeelGentle exfoliation paired with hydration, for skin that is dry, tight or dehydrated rather than pigmented.
  • Melano Pack PeelAimed at melasma and stubborn patches of pigmentation, applied as a course rather than a one-off.
  • Mango Brite PeelA brightening peel for uneven tone and tanning, with mild flaking rather than heavy peeling.
  • Yellow Ultra PeelA leave-on peel worn home and washed off after eight hours. Visible peeling follows for several days. Strong, and planned around your week.
  • Cosmelan PeelAn intensive pigmentation protocol for melasma that has not responded to lighter treatment. Commitment to the home routine afterwards decides the result.
  • TCA PeelA deeper resurfacing peel for acne scarring, textural damage and sun-damaged skin.
  • Party Peel with MaskA quick pre-event brightening peel with a finishing mask. No downtime, and the glow arrives in time for the evening.

Not suitable if you have an active skin infection, cold sores, open wounds, inflamed cystic acne or recent sunburn on the area, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Tell us if you are on isotretinoin, have taken it in the past six months, or use retinoids at home. Peels are also postponed after recent waxing or threading on the area.

The Session

How it works

  1. Assessment

We look at your skin type, your pigmentation pattern and what you have used before, then choose the peel and the strength. If your skin is not ready for a peel, we will say so.

  2. Prep

Skin is cleansed and degreased so the solution acts evenly. Sensitive areas around the eyes and nostrils are protected.

  3. Application

The solution goes on in a thin, even layer and is timed closely. You will feel warmth or tingling, which settles quickly.

  4. Neutralise or leave on

Most peels are neutralised and washed off in the clinic. Leave-on peels such as the yellow peel stay on your skin and are washed off at home after eight hours.

  5. Recovery cream and sunscreen

You go home with a recovery cream and clear instructions. Sunscreen is essential from the next morning, because freshly peeled skin pigments fast.

  6. The course

Pigmentation rarely clears in one peel. Most concerns need a short course spaced a few weeks apart, and we will tell you roughly how many at the consultation.

Aftercare

Post-care instructions

The peel does its work over the following week. What you do in that week decides the outcome.

  • Sunscreen and moisturiser every morning, reapplied through the day. This is the single most important instruction.
  • No face wash or cleanser for 24 hours after the procedure. Plain water is fine.
  • No other skincare or active ingredients for five nights — no retinol, acids or vitamin C.
  • Keep reapplying moisturiser whenever the skin feels dry or flaky.
  • Mild itching, flaking or redness is normal.
  • Never pull peeling skin off with your hands. Let it come away on its own.
  • Makeup can go back on once the peeling has stopped.
  • No steam, sauna, swimming or heavy workouts until the skin has settled.
  • Anything unusual — blistering, lasting pain, spreading redness — call the clinic.

For leave-on peels such as the yellow peel: wash your face with water only, eight hours after the peel was applied. Then apply a pea-sized amount of the recovery cream we give you, along with moisturiser, and continue that cream for five nights. Skin usually starts peeling on day two or three.

Questions

Chemical peel FAQs

Will my skin actually peel?

It depends on the peel. Light peels such as glow, hydration or the party peel cause little or no visible peeling. Yellow, Cosmelan and TCA peels do peel visibly, usually starting on day two or three and lasting several days.

Does it hurt?

You will feel warmth, tingling or mild stinging while the solution is on, strongest in the first minute and settling after that. It is uncomfortable rather than painful, and light peels barely register.

How many sessions will I need?

Pigmentation rarely clears in one peel. Most concerns need a short course spaced a few weeks apart, and stubborn melasma needs a longer plan plus home care. We will give you a number at consultation rather than sell you one peel at a time.

Are peels safe on Indian skin?

Yes, when the depth is chosen carefully. Darker skin pigments readily in response to inflammation, so we often start with a lighter peel and build up, rather than reaching for the strongest option first.

How long before an event should I book?

For a light or party peel, two to three days is enough. For any peel that causes visible peeling, leave at least two weeks. Never book a strong peel in the week of a wedding.

Can I have a peel if I have active acne?

Often yes — certain peels help acne and the marks it leaves. We avoid peeling over inflamed cystic lesions or infected skin and treat that first.

Can I use my regular skincare afterwards?

Not straight away. Skip actives such as retinol, acids and vitamin C for five nights, and use only a gentle cleanser, the recovery cream and moisturiser. Sunscreen resumes from the next morning.

Is it safe if I have melasma?

Peels are one of the main treatments for melasma, but melasma is a long-term condition that is managed rather than cured. Expect a plan that combines in-clinic peels with home care and strict sun protection.
